Spring in the Foothills, An Engagement Shoot | Denver, Colorado

I feel at home in Scotland or Ireland, where the hills look unreal in their emerald glory and you’re often guaranteed at least one misting before the day is out. The Midwest was my childhood, where thunderstorms and rainclouds graced the expansive skies and you could go weeks without seeing a bluebird day. The lawn of my childhood home often flooded in the downpours and green was not a color that lacked in nature.

And then I moved to Colorado.

While of course this state is abounding in beauty and there’s adventure to be found around every corner, rainy days are NOT in abundance here. So, when spring rolls around and we’re blessed with afternoon showers, I am giddy with anticipation. These rare storms in the Front Range bring the long-awaited green to the hills. And if you’re looking for engagement photos during this time, look no further than the open spaces dotting the landscape around Denver. But act fast! The hills that are lush and green one minute, turn brown and scorched the next.

The following photos are just a glimpse at the beautiful green that graces the Foothills. J, A, and I took a little walk and found this beautiful landscape which brought me right back to the lush landscapes of Scotland.
