A Seaside Portrait Session | Scotland Family Photographer

“I don’t want to lose a single thread from the intricate brocade of this happiness. I want to remember everything. Which is why I am lying awake, sleepy but not sleepy enough to give it up. Just now, a moment from years ago: the early morning light, the deft, sweet gesture of your hand reaching for me.”

– Mary Oliver

Blue waters, white sands, and rocky green hills. You may not think of Scotland when you think of a beach destination but this country will take your breath away with its beautiful coasts. I’m so grateful I was able to capture this darling family session in one of my favorite parts of my favorite country. As a Scotland portrait photographer, I love finding the most breathtaking scenic views for my clients’ sessions. Achmelvich Beach did not disappoint for this family shoot.

Places to Elope on the North Coast of Scotland

Achmelvich Beach and the surrounding area are part of the North Coast 500. It’s 500 miles of stunning landscape at the north of Scotland that’s often recommended as a road trip destination. Some of my favorite places exist along this coast and they’d be absolutely magical backdrops for an elopement.

I visit Scotland once, sometimes twice a year for work and play. I’ve seen so much of this dazzling, magical, moody country. It’s a country overflowing with beautiful landscapes and culture. If you’re looking for a special place for your wedding or elopement, you should absolutely add Scotland to your list.
