A Lincoln Park Neighborhood Engagement Shoot | Chicago, Illinois

I don’t think it was until I left Illinois that I really started appreciating what it has to offer. There’s not much that can stand up against the mountains of the west but the abundance and minute treasures of the Midwest prairie have a magnificence all its own. And while I could never quite see myself living in a concrete jungle as big as Chicago, I can honestly say it’s one of the finest cities in the country (in my very humble opinion). I’m always so happy to return to Chicago to photograph clients in its unique landmarks and neighborhoods.

This particular city session is near and dear to my heart. Pictured here is my good childhood friend’s little sister. C and I probably haven’t seen one another in 10+ years but I’ve basically kept tabs on her through social media: following her sister, who never fails to make me laugh and think with her Instagram stories and following her mom, the coolest artist who I’ve always admired. Seeing Little C all grown up and in love with such a kind, thoughtful guy was such a sweet treat. Life is wild, you guys.
