An Adventure Engagement Session | Brainard Lake and Nederland Colorado

We began the day in the dark. It was September. Rain was coming down in the parking lot of Brainard Lake Recreation Area and the sun was an hour from rising. We made the two mile, easy trek to Lake Isabelle but before we reached the lake, we began to notice snow. Snow! I suppose we shouldn’t have been surprised. It is Colorado after all. S + C put on their brave faces, held one another tight, and danced around in the freezing temps with bare shoulders and frozen fingers.

But that wasn’t all. I had the pleasure of spending all day with these two lovebirds who welcomed me with open arms to S’s family cabin outside Nederland, where we warmed up and traipsed around the beautiful, unspoiled property. Photographing a couple in a place that holds as much meaning as this cabin does to these two felt so right. It felt un-rushed, intimate, and a little bit holy.

If you’re looking for a similar portrait experience with the one you love, get in touch. I’d love to be a part of a similarly beautiful day, frozen fingers and all.
